2016 Kia Soul Offers Collision Warning

While its basics carry over, the 2016 Kia Soul adds features to its Base, Plus and Exclaim model lines while revising their option rosters. Key among them is a new Premium Plus Package for the Soul Exclaim highlighting forward collision and lane departure warnings. Kia is looking raise the top-line Soul from its current IIHS Top Safety Pick status to a Top Safety Pick+ rating.

The Soul Base -- $16,515 with a 6-speed manual or $18,015 with the 6-speed automatic -- gets alloy wheels as standard. Automatics with the $500 Convenience Package add a 4.3-inch color touchscreen, SiriusXM satellite radio and integrated Rear Camera Display. Swapping the 130-horsepower/1.6-liter four for a 164-horse/2.0-liter engine, the autoshift-only Soul Plus starts at $20,015 and gains gloss black bumper "tusks," fog lights and integrated Rear Camera Display for 2016. It also offers a new Designer Collection package culled from the Soul EV that matches two-tone exterior trim -- white with a red roof or red with a black roof - with an 18-inch wheel/tire package and leather steering wheel/shift knob trim.

Soul Plus buyers also can opt for an Eco Package with the Idle Stop and Go system and low-rolling resistance tires on 16-inch wheels, an Audio Package with navigation and dual-zone climate control, and a Primo Package adds leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, heated front/rear seats and more. Also on offer are the Signature 2.0 Special Edition Package that adds two-tone paint, leather seats, HID headlamps, LED running/tail lights and 18-inch wheels/tires as well as the returning Red Zone Special Edition Package.  

Commencing at $21,915, the range-topping Soul Exclaim carries over but does sweeten the optional Umber Color Package 1 with HID headlights plus premium Nappa leather seating surfaces and armrest accents. In addition to the aforementioned safety systems, the new $4,400 Premium Package includes navigation, an upgraded Infinity audio system and LED mood lighting along with all of the other items in the Primo Package while offering Umber Package 2 that also brings a full Nappa leather interior trim. The 2016 Kia Soul arrives in showrooms this month.
