2016 Kia Sportage Spotte In Sydney

The all-new 2016 Kia Sportage SUV has been spied on the streets of Sydney this week by an eagle-eyed CarAdvice reader.

Only officially revealed in a series of exterior photos last Thursday, the new Sportage was initially set to be unveiled at this year’s Frankfurt motor show, but the cat has been well and truly let out of the bag early.

Kia Australia has stated that the car pictured is being used to further develop the suspension tune for the Australian market, before the car goes on sale in early 2016.

Despite a raft of spy shots showing the interior of the Sportage, the car in Sydney clearly has a cover over the dashboard to disguise any final trim details.

An official view of the new mid-sized SUV’s cabin will be handed down in the next few days, but those earlier spy shots reveal that we can expect a utilitarian dash design that draws inspiration from the larger Carnival people-mover and Sorento SUV.

Spied in top-shelf ‘GT-Line’ form, the Sportage’s dash shows a large centre display above three rows of dials and switches, along with a flat-bottomed sports steering wheel.

Watch for the Sportage’s interior to make a proper first appearance on Wednesday.
