It was only a month ago when Honda launched the all-new generation of Civic and now, the vehicle is being challenged by the all-new Kia Optima. The latter came out with so much power to offer and it also promises big savings in fuel economy.
The all-new Optima might feature the same underpinnings that is used to develop the latest Hyundai Sonata but that does not mean the two cars are equal to each other. This is because underneath the hood, the Optima runs on a refined 2L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that is packed with 245hp and 260ft-lbs of torque.
The 2L unit is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission and it operates the Optima on the FWD system. With such a setup, the Kia Optima is able to return 22mpg city and 32mpg highway, which is pretty impressive and an improvement from the previous model.
The special thing about the Optima is that the engine runs smoothly and quietly and there are plenty of features that ensure the car is fun to drive. Among them includes a new 14-speaker with USB and mp3 support, push button start, panoramic sunroof, ceiling mood lighting, LED rear lamps and Android Auto.
The best part is that the Optima is really affordable to own as it retails at $36,615. Then again, the latest generation, range-topping Civic is still cheaper at $34,580 hence the latter is still the better option when compared to the Optima.
