Kia has released a trio of teaser images previewing
the all-new Sportage set to premiere on September 17 at the Frankfurt Motor
Show.
These
rather cartoonish official renders provide a first glimpse at Kia's overhauled
fourth generation of the compact crossover which is set to adopt a fresh look
both inside and out. The company's corporate "tiger nose" grille now
sits lower and we also notice the shape of the headlights has been extensively
modified with the ice cube LED daytime running lights incorporated within the
cluster.
There's
also some front and rear aluminum underbody protection, sleek taillights which
appear to be interconnected through a red bar, along with a roof-mounted
spoiler and the typical oversized alloy wheels automakers prefer to use on official
teasers.
As far as
the interior is concerned, it will be a major departure from the outgoing model
and will mix up bits and pieces from the bigger Sorento but also from the new
Optima mid-size sedan. The attached teaser shows some body-hugging seats,
metallic accents, flat-bottomed steering wheel and a large touchscreen display
along with red ambient lighting, an automatic transmission and a large central
armrest.
Kia will likely show us the
2016 Sportage in the following weeks before bringing to IAA while sales will
likely kick off before the end of the year.
