Melissa McCarthy sent fleeing in the Kia Niro Super Bowl teaser

The Super Bowl is drawing near and with it comes a cavalcade of over-the-top and outrageously expensive mid-game ads. The cult of the commercial has grown so large that 60-second ads are getting 15-second teasers. For Kia's eighth year at the Super Bowl, the Korean automaker will be promoting its new hybrid, the Niro. The company released a new trailer hyping its third-quarter ad slot.

The teaser doesn't actually feature the Niro. Instead flag-waving actor Melissa McCarthy is shown screaming and fleeing across a field from some unknown assailant, presumably the Niro's rival, a Toyota Prius, done up like the War Rig from Mad Max Fury Road. Kia promises the game day commercial will trace "a heroic and harrowing journey stretching from the polar ice caps to an arid desert" all while showing why the Niro is a new type of crossover. We really just want to know what's written on the flag.

2017 Kia Cadenza news: next-generation luxury sedan teased in new images

Kia is gearing up for the release of the second-generation Cadenza, the automaker's large front-wheel drive luxury sedan. The next-generation Cadenza is set to succeed the current model, which was released in South Korea back in 2010.

"The all-new Kia Cadenza will set new benchmarks for cutting-edge design, interior quality and contemporary luxury when in goes on sale in overseas markets in 2016," said Kia in a press release.
Kia has released three teaser images that preview the Cadenza. From these images, it is clear that the forthcoming sedan will feature a restyled exterior and will be built using more premium materials.
The 2017 Kia Cadenza seems to have been inspired by Kia's Sportspace and Novo Concept cars. There are also design similarities with the 2016 Kia Optima.

The Cadenza sedan comes with a sleek and sporty design. With a wide and low stance, it looks sharper and more aggressive. The new Cadenza will come with an elongated bonnet, Kia's signature "tiger-nose" grille, tapered headlights, grid-patterned fog lamps and square exhaust tips.

The tall sedan also comes with sharper styling lines including a high-set beltline, clean body panels and a long sloping roofline. With its unique design, the next-generation Cadenza will be instantly recognizable.

The 2017 Kia Cadenza may still be powered by the current model's 3.3-liter V-6 engine mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is also rumored that Kia will unveil a second powertrain option – a smaller four-cylinder hybrid engine.

The upcoming four-door luxury sedan will also come with a fresh, updated and elegant new look. While the sedan's interiors maintains the horizontal layout of its predecessor, it will feature more premium and high-quality materials. Car enthusiasts can look forward to seeing soft-touch materials and metal accents inside the cabin. The 2017 Kia Cadenza will also be more spacious than its predecessors.

The 2017 Kia Cadenza sedan is expected to make its official debut next year and arrive at U.S. dealers by fall 2016.

Monster 2016 Kia Sorento Teased Before SEMA

The Kia Sorento is a perfectly respectable, refined and well-equipped midsize crossover. But it’s hardly the stuff of off-road dreams, at least in stock form. Kia is hoping to change some perceptions with the Sorento it’s building up for the upcoming SEMA Show. Built in conjunction with PacWest, from the single shot released of the front, and a brief 22-second teaser video, to say the crossover has been modified for its Las Vegas debut would be an understatement.

From the front, there are enough LEDs to blind Mr. Magoo, a custom tubular front bumper, including skid plates and a winch, a black mesh grille, front air snorkel, and Nitto Trail Grappler tires. The custom lower control arms from the photo are confirmed by the brief teaser video, which also shows plenty of custom paint and graphics being applied. Through the front windshield, we can see custom upholstered front seats with the “KIA” logo stitched into the headrests.

While we certainly appreciate Kia’s attempt at giving the handsome, but mild-mannered Sorento a shot of adrenaline, we seriously doubt it’s going to revert back to a body-on-frame, live-axle chassis with low-range four-wheel-drive, at least in showroom form. Kia's 2015 SEMA Show Teaser

From baffling cropped details to pitch black photos, automakers never cease to amaze, or rather, perplex us with their idea of a teaser.

Way too often, we find ourselves scratching our heads and wondering why they even bother, as was the case this morning with an email from Kia titled “Kia Teases SEMA 2015”. After reading that, what would you expect to see? 

Think about it for a few seconds before you head down to read the Korean brand’s short release followed by their so-called ‘video teaser’ and then speak your mind in our comments section right below the jump.
