The new Kia GT is not far away

Do you recall the Kia GT Concept that was unveiled back in 2011? Well, the car is finally getting produced and it is projected to arrive later this year. The production GT is going to be huge when released because it is going to be Kia’s first performance-focused car.

In terms of design, the GT is already looking attractive and all that is left is for Kia to equip it with a powerful powertrain. The word is that the GT will be adopting a V6 twin-turbo engine that can develop 380hp to offer.

There will also be a base trim model that will rely on a 2L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that can generate up to 270hp. With such figures, the GT will be allowed to compete with the industry greats like the Ford Focus RS and Subaru BRZ.

This is the sort of figures which the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 fans would love to see on their cars. The unfortunate thing about the duo is that they only have 205hp to offer and it does not match their sporty looks.

Kia Motors to launch Niro hybrid SUV in Europe in May

"The Kia Niro will be launched in Europe in May, followed by its introduction to customers in China and the United States in September and November, respectively," the source close to the matter told the English department of Yonhap News Agency.

The Niro comes with a 105-horsepower, 1.6-liter gasoline engine and a 43.5-horsepower electric motor. It boasts a fuel economy of 50 miles per gallon, which translates into about 21.5 kilometers per liter, according to the company.

Following its domestic and overseas launch, Kia Motors plans to bring the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle version to the Korean market in March next year first before starting to sell it in Europe and China in June 2017, the source added.

The EV model is to be showcased at a motor show to be held from March 3-13 in Geneva, Switzerland, ahead of its official launch in the European market.

Kia Motors aims to sell about 65,000 units of the Niro at home and abroad annually.

Meanwhile, for its vehicle launch plans in 2017, the source said that Kia Motors will unveil fully-renovated versions of the Pride subcompact along with those of the K-series, including the K9 flagship large-size sedan.

Get A Better Look At The 2017 Kia Sportage

Thankfully, AutoGuide.com‘s spy photographers have caught the new Kia Sportage driving on public roadways fully exposed, giving us a better look ahead of the vehicle’s public debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Sporting a whole new bold look, the Sportage is designed by Kia’s European studio in Frankfurt, Germany, with input from the automaker’s Korean and U.S. design centers. It’s been heavily inspired by the Provo concept, especially at the rear of the crossover with angular tail lights and chrome accents.

The front headlights are no longer integrated with the Sportage’s front grille, which has also been updated to be wider and lower, giving the front end a more prominent and powerful appearance.

More details on the 2017 Kia Sportage will be revealed when it officially bows in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, including powertrain options and specifications. For now, expect a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder engine under the hood mated to a dual-clutch transmission from the current Hyundai Tucson.
