Kia has announced plans to introduce a
variety of models at the Paris Motor Show.
First
up, the face lifted Rio
will receive a "slight visual makeover" that includes new bumpers, a
revised grille and restyled wheels. The model will also feature an updated
interior with a new audio system, an improved navigation system and additional
chrome trim.
In
Europe, the Rio will be
offered with four different engines which have outputs ranging 75-109 PS (55-
80 kW). They can be paired to a five- or six-speed manual or an optional
four-speed automatic transmission.
The company will also
show a face lifted Venga which features a larger grille, LED daytime running
lights and restyled LED taillights. The car will also boast new 16- and 17-inch
alloy wheels.
Interior
changes will be relatively limited but include a new center-stack, darker metal
trim and a newly optional heated steering wheel.
Engine
options carryover and include 1.4- and 1.6-liter petrol and diesel units with
outputs ranging from 77-128 PS (56-94 kW). They can be connected to a five- or
six-speed manual as well as a four-speed automatic transmission.
The Optima
T-Hybrid concept, on the other hand, previews a potential new model. It
features a 1.7-liter CRDi turbo diesel engine, a small electric motor and a 48V
lead-carbon battery pack.
Kia declined to go into specifics
but said the concept has an "innovative electric supercharger" which
"helps to boost torque and engine response at low engine speeds."
That's a little vague but Kia
says they expect the hybridized power train will be 15-20% more powerful than
the standard 1.7-liter diesel engine that produces 136 PS (100 kW).
