IRVINE, California — The
2016 Kia Soul EV lineup includes a
new, lower-priced base model called the Soul EV-e that starts at $32,775,
including an $825 destination charge.
The Soul EV-e is available in
California only. Pricing does not include a federal tax rebate of $7,500.
"Offering a long
list of standard equipment at a lower price point, the Soul EV-e brings new value for
those looking for a fun and funky alternative in the EV segment," Kia Motors America said in a
statement.
Standard equipment on
the Soul EV-e includes
heated front seats, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, a DC fast-charge
port, 6.6-kilowatt onboard charger, 3.5-inch OLED Supervision cluster, smart
key with push-button start and a driver-only ventilation function that closes
the passenger vents to maximize efficiency based on vehicle occupancy.
The base 2015 Kia Soul EV starts
at $34,500, including shipping.
The midrange 2016 Kia Soul EV is priced at
$34,775, while the top-of-the-line Soul EV+ starts at $36,775. Prices include
shipping.
Upgrades across the
lineup for the 2016 model year include a charge port nozzle lock, an
illuminated Aux/USB port and two new exterior colors: Shadow Black and Bright
Silver.
Kia recently announced that it
is expanding the availability of the Soul EV to now include California,
Washington and Oregon. The Soul
EV is expected to arrive at Kia dealerships this summer.
Key Soul EV rivals include the
Chevrolet Spark EV, Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Nissan Leaf and Volkswagen e-Golf.
The Soul EV has a
driving range of 93 miles, according to the EPA.
