You can have it your way – the Sorento SX V6 AWD, base MSRP $39,700, seats seven. Our test Sorento SXL 2.0-liter turbo AWD, base MSRP $41,700 that seats five, that was fully loaded, stickered at $45,305 with destination. The Sorento SXL 3.3 V/6, seats 7, base MSRP $43,100.
I drove the SXL four-cylinder turbo 240 horsepower for a week and had many friends take it for a short test drive and all were very impressed. Your first look at the Sorento and you have to look at the Kia badge to find the brand. The paint work and body lines flow perfectly. Open and close the doors and there is a solid yet quiet sound. A push of the powered rear tailgate opens to plenty of storage space. The carpet throughout is deep and soft. The interior rivals SUVs that are double the price tag. The dash layout has simple controls and a clear large touch screen make you wonder if this is still a Kia. Front leather seats are both heated and ventilated with multi adjustments.
Yes it has a heated steering wheel and plenty of cup holders. As for standard features, they are too many to mention. LED lighting is both inside and out. The panoramic sunroof lets both light and plenty of fresh air in, or push the button and close the shade or the roof. The entry level is low enough for persons with short legs to enter and exit with ease. Open the hood and you will be amazed, there is plenty of room for service.
The four-cylinder has the power of a small V/8 at any speed, and the transmission is quick and smooth to shift. Large 19-inch tires on alloy wheels aid in the smooth ride and handling. As for safety and options, our Sorento had many, including the Tech package that includes electric parking brake, advanced smart cruise control, HID headlights, surround view monitor, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning.
Kia backs its vehicles with one of the best warranties in the industry. If you are in the market for a five- or seven-passenger SUV you need to test drive a Sorento.
